I just recently had in my possession two of the most popular iPod Voice Recorders:
the Griffin iTalk and the Belkin Voice Recorder.
I have a special interest in this because I plan to use one of these units as a main component in an upcoming Blogcast-(Blog Style Podcast) for our Switching to Mac Website.
So what exactly is an iPod Voice Recorder?
These little gems are small attachments that connect to iPods using the Doc Connector and allows you to record virtually any audible signal using a built in microphone and then play your recording back with the built-in small speakers. Main uses would be recording dictation, lectures, interviews and personal audio memos. (Sorry, no iPod Nano, Mini, Shuffle or Video support)

Making the Purchase
Being an ubergeek I have always admired Apple’s physical design, but have avoided Macs in the past due to the operating system. Since I run linux (SuSE 9.0 AMD64) at home I was interested in OSX because of it’s BSD roots. I have tried linux on laptops in the past, but have never been happy with the stability of the hardware support. I know I am going to get flamed for this last line, but when you have 5 minutes to logon to a wifi hotspot to get your mail in between flights you don’t want to have to troubleshoot iwconfig or your VPN.

Now that you have decided that you are going to get a Mac, it’s time to figure out which Mac is the right one for you. There really isn’t a wrong choice here, it’s more a matter of getting the best use out of your money and not over or under-spending your hard earned cash.
