TorrentDam - a torrent search application for your Mac
March 4, 2009 by Sukrit Dhandhania
TorrentDam is an open source application for the Mac that allows you to search for Bit Torrent downloads on your Mac. It offers search for some of the most popular Bit Torrent search engines such as Mininova and The Pirate Bay.
To install TorrentDam head over to the application’s website and dowload the latest release. After the download completes copy the TorrentDam application to your Mac’s Applications directory. Launch it by double clicking on the application.
TorrentDam’s interface is rather simple. There’s a search box where you enter what you want to search for, there’s are Search and Quit buttons, and there’s the list of search engines that will be searched. You can check or uncheck search engines from the list.
When you enter a query in the TorrentDam search box and hit the Return key or click on the Search button TorrentDam opens several pages or tabs, depending upon how your Mac’s default web browser has been configured, and shows the search results for the Bit Torrent search engines checked in TorrentDam.
It definitely helps to have your web browser open up these links in new tabs rather than separate windows. To set the Safari web browser to open go to the Safari Preferences pane by hitting the key combination of Cmd + comma. In the General tab there’s an option at the bottom of the pane called Open links from application. Set this to in a new tab in the current window.
Happy downloading.

I usually use torrent-indexing sites like isohunt and Pizzatorrent, but when this app searches multiple sites (including indexing sites), I can see its benefits. Will try it out soon - thanks for the tip-off…
