Screen recording is great way to teach others about Mac OSX. With the release of Mac OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard, Apple has introduced a screen capture function in the newest release of Quicktime. In this tutorial I will be showing you how to use this feature.

Using Quicktime To Record Your Screen

1. Open “QuickTime Player”by launching it from your dock or by searching for it in Spotlight.

2. Once Quicktime has completely opened, look at the Apple toolbar that is located at the top of your desktop. Click “File”.

3. When you click on “File”, a drop down menu will appear. Click on “New Screen Recording”.

4. Once you have opened the screen recorder, you will be given a few options. To view these options, click on the white arrow that is located towards the middle of the window. You will then be greeted with a few options including choosing the microphone input, changing the quality of your video, and selecting the file destination.

5. To start recording, click on the “Record” button. This button is located near the top of the “Screen Recording” window. When you click this button, you will record your screen as well as your voice.

6. Once you have started recording and would like to stop, look at the Apple toolbar. You will see an option labeled “Stop Recording”. Click on this when you would like to stop recording.
