Watching videos on your Mac can be an amazing experience with Apple’s high resolution screens. If you are watching a long video or movie you may notice that your Mac’s screen automatically dims itself when not in use.

If you would like to disable this feature, read on. In this quick and easy tutorial we will be showing you how to turn off screen dimming on your Mac. This tutorial does not require any additional software.

Disabling Screen Dimming

1. Open System Preferences by launching it from your dock or by searching for it in Spotlight.

2. Look under the Hardware heading, you will see an option labeled Energy Saver. Click on this option.

3. Look towards the center of the screen, you will see an option labeled Display Sleep. Move the slider all the way to the right. This will make sure that your display never goes to sleep/dims.
