When using the iWork application suite, you’ll notice than many of the tools needed for productivity are found in the Inspector window. Tools for making lists, tables, graphics, links, alignment, document layout and more are all found here. At first glance, the Inspector window is a single-view pane, with tab-like browsing to access other options. However, you are able to have multiple Inspector windows open simultaneously, each with a different active tool set.
Open an iWork application, such as Pages by clicking its icon in the Applications Folder.

Create a new document or open a recently existing project using the template chooser window.

Once the document is open, click the Inspector icon in the top right-hand corner of the new window.
![]()
This will open the default Inspector window. As you can see, there are multiple tool palettes, each with its own set of preferences and settings.

To open more Inspector windows, hold the Option key and click on the toolset you’d like to use. There is no limit to the amount of pallets you can open.
