If you have recently purchased a used Mac and it refuses to change time zones, or if you are traveling and would like to change time zones, read on. In this tutorial we will be showing you how to manually change time zones on your Mac. This tutorial does not require any additional software.

Manually Changing The Time Zone

1. Open System Preferences by launching it from your dock or by searching for it in Spotlight.

2. Look under the “System” heading and click on the Date & Time option.

3. Now, look towards the top of the window. You will see a row of tabs. Click on the tab labeled “Time Zone”.

4. Under the row of tabs you will see an option labeled “Set time zone automatically using current location”. Make sure this is unchecked. Only leave this unchecked if you are manually setting your time.

5. Look towards the middle of the window, you will see a map of the world and a drop down menu. You can choose your time zone by using either of these. If you are using the map, simply click on your current location. When you do this, the time zone will change accordingly. If you would like to use the drop down menu, simply click your current city from the menu.
