If you use your dashboard widgets often and would like to view them on your desktop, read on. In this tutorial we will be showing you how view your widgets on your desktop. This tutorial does not require any additional software.
Viewing Widgets On Your Desktop
1. Open Terminal by launching it from your dock or by searching for it in Spotlight.

2. Once Terminal has completely launched, copy and paste this into the Terminal window: defaults write com.apple.dashboard devmode YES . After that, copy and paste this into Terminal: killall Dock .

Adding Widgets To Your Desktop
1. Open Dashboard by pressing the Dashboard button (F4) on your keyboard.
2. Find the widget that you would like to put on your desktop and click and hold it. When you are doing this, move the widget to where you would like to see it on your desktop. Before dropping it, press the Dashboard button (F4) on your keyboard.

Note: To remove the widget from your desktop, simply click and hold on the widget and press the Dashboard button (F4).

Regarding seeing dashboard widgets on desktop – I cannot get this to work. My iMac is almost brand new running I7 and upgraded to Lion. Is it possible that it cannot be used in Lion?
