The iTunes Mini player is a great way to control your music while keeping your desktop organized. The only problem is that the iTunes Mini player’s look might get boring after awhile. In this tutorial I will show you a great alternative to the iTunes Mini player and how to set it up. For this tutorial you will need to get the Mac app called Bowtie. Bowtie is available from http://bowtieapp.com, for free.
Configuring Bowtie
1. To start, open Bowtie by launching it from your dock or by searching for it in Spotlight. You will also need to launch iTunes, you can do this by repeating the same process as opening Bowtie.

2. Once iTunes and Bowtie are completely launched, you will see that Bowtie has opened with its default theme. If you don’t like this theme you can change it by clicking on the Bowtie drop-down menu and clicking “Preferences”

3. Once you are in the Preferences menu, click on “Themes”. You will see that there are a few themes that you can choose to enable. To enable a theme, simply click on the theme of your choice and then click “Apply”. You can find the “Apply” button on the upper right hand corner of the theme preview box.

Downloading More Bowtie Themes
1. If none of the built in Bowtie themes appeal to you, you can download more themes from www.bowcase.me. To easily launch this webpage go to the “Themes”tab in the “Preferences”menu. From there all you have to do is click on “Download More Themes”. You can button on the lower right hand corner of the window.

2. Once www.bowcase.me has opened in your web browser, you will see many themes for Bowtie. Once you have found one you like, you can download it by clicking on the preview image. When you click on this image you will be taken to a website where the author of the theme has posted the download link.
3. Once you have downloaded the theme of your choice, double click the .bowTie file that was downloaded. This will automatically import the theme you have downloaded into the “Themes”tab. You can apply your new theme the same way that you have applied any of the stock themes.
