Songs purchased from the iTunes store will come with great album artwork that displays on your iPod, iPhone and on your Mac. Many times when you import a CD, iTunes will find the album artwork automatically and add it to your library. Sometimes, there may be missing or wrong album art, this may be due to importing a burned or incomplete album, older songs, or obscure artists. Fortunately, iTunes will allow you to add your own album art to songs which can sync to your iPod or other device.
Open iTunes by click the icon in the Dock or Applications Folder.

When album artwork is not present for a song, the album will appear as just a music note.

Before trying to manually add artwork, you can ask iTunes to look for missing artwork throughout your entire library. Click on Advanced in the menu bar and select Get Album Artwork.

iTunes will begin searching for missing album art. This may take several minutes to an hour depending on how large your library is. A progress bar will appear at the top of the iTunes window to inform you of its progress.

Once complete, if the album in question still does not have album art, we can manually add it. To add artwork to all the tracks in an album, hold the Command button while selecting them.

CTRL + Click on one of the highlighted songs to bring up the contextual menu. Select Get Info from the list.

The track and album info window will appear. Here you can bulk change the artist name, album, composer, etc.

In the lower right-hand corner you will see the artwork box with a check box next to it. Click the checkbox.

Locate a graphic you would like to use as the artwork for this album. An image search online or a graphic/photo you already have on your Mac will work fine. Click and drag the graphic into the Artwork box.

The graphic will import into the box. Press OK to save it.

Return to the iTunes library and the album should now display the new artwork you’ve chosen.

To make sure any new album artwork is displayed on your iPod or iPhone, be sure to sync the device with iTunes.
