Mainly for the purpose of video chatting and Photo Booth, iPad 2′s front and rear facing camera can also be used as any other device’s, to take still photos and HD video. While still photo quality is not very good (the resolution of a still photo taken on the iPad 2 is less than 1 megapixel) video looks slightly better and can be edited directly on the iPad using iMovie for iOS.
To launch the Camera on iPad, tap on the Camera Application Icon to start.

Once open, the camera app will display whatever is in view of the lens on the screen. While is may seem awkward, shooting video on the iPad 2 is great with such a large preview window.
To snap a photo of whatever is on screen, tap on the Shutter Button located at the bottom-center of the window.

If you’d like to switch between taking still photos and HD video, tap on the still/video slider located at the bottom right-hand side of the window.

To view the pictures you’ve already taken, tap on the Photo Icon in the lower left-hand side of thew window. All photos are also saved locally on the device in the Camera Roll album.

To switch between the front and rear-faceing cameras, tap the Rotate Camera button in the lower right-hand corner of the viewing window.
