Inside iOS 4.3 there are some hidden four and five finger gestures that can be used on the iPad. These features were only previously available to those signed up for the Apple developer program, since you needed Xcode to activate them (Xcode is Apple’s iOS development platform). Signing up for the developer program costs $99, but Xcode is now offered as a stand alone application in the Mac App Store for just $5.
Open the Mac App Store from the Dock or Application Folder.

Find the Search Bar located in the upper right-hand corner of the App Store. Type Xcode and press Enter.

The Xcode app will appear in the search results. Click on the $4.99 price and then select Buy. You will be prompted to enter your iTunes password and click OK. The Xcode app is approximately 4.5GB so it will take a few hours to download, depending on the speed of your internet connection.

Open Xcode by clicking its icon in the Dock or Application Folder.

Once Xcode is open, connect your iPad to your computer. Your iPad should appear in the Xcode devices window.

Once recognized, click on the Use for Development button. You may get an error message; disregard it.

Unplug your iPad from the computer and tap on the Settings icon on your iPad home screen.

Tap on the General section of the Settings screen.

On the right-hand side of the window, a new option will be available. Multitasking Gestures should appear with an On/Off slider. Slide this to the ON position.

You now have access to the four and five gestures described below this option. A Five Finger pinch towards the center of the screen within any app will bring you back to the home screen. Swipe Four Fingers upward on the screen to bring up the multitasking bar. To go back to the previous app, swipe Four Fingers to the left.
