iCal is a great way to organize events, schoolwork, and birthdays. But when you have a lot of events going on in the same timeframe, it can be helpful to have separate calendars for different parts of your life. In this section of the tutorial we will be showing you how to add additional calendars in iCal. This tutorial does not require any additional software.
Adding Additional Calendars in iCal
1. Open iCal by launching it from your dock or by searching for it in Spotlight.

2. Once iCal has completely opened, look at the sidebar that is located on the lefthand side of the iCal window. Under the account that you would like to add a new calendar to, right click and a right click menu will appear.

3. From the right click menu, click on “New Calendar”. This will add a new iCal calendar to the account that you selected in Step 2 above. You will now be prompted to rename this calendar.

Color Coding Calendars
If you would like to simplify your iCal life even more, consider color coding your calendars so that each of your calendars has a color of your choice. In this tutorial we will be showing you how to color code your calendars in iCal.
1. Open iCal by launching it from your dock or by searching for it in Spotlight.

2. Once iCal has completely launched, look at the lefthand side of the iCal window. You will notice a sidebar that has all of your calendars listed. Find the calendar that you would like to color code and right click on it. When you do this a right click menu will appear. From this menu click “Get Info” and a drop down menu will appear.

3. Look towards the top of the drop down menu, where you will see a box called “Name”. On the righthand side of this box you will see a color swatch. Click on this and a drop down menu will appear. From this drop down menu you can choose the color that you would like to use for the calendar you have selected. Once you have done this, click “OK”.
