Adding Birthdays to iCal

If you’re like me, you’re always forgetting the birthdays of your friends and family members. Though it happens to all of us, iCal provides an easy solution to this problem. In this tutorial we will be showing you how to add birthday reminders to iCal. This article does not require any additional software or iCal plugins.

Adding Birthdays to iCal

To start, launch iCal. Once it has completely launched look towards the lefthand side of the Apple Toolbar and click on the option labeled iCal. When you do this, a drop down menu will appear. From this menu, click on the option labeled “Preferences”. A popup window will now appear.

Preferences

Look towards the bottom of this menu, where you will see an option labeled “Show Birthdays calendar”. Once you’ve enabled this option, a new calendar labeled Birthdays will appear under the Subscriptions header in iCal. The birthdays which are being shown in the birthdays calendar are being pulled from your Address Book.
