As a new feature in the latest iWork Suite, Pages gives you the ability to create a PDF from your current file and email it without leaving the app. Included in every iWork application there is now a “Sharing” menu from which you can send a document to the cloud, mail it in different formats or export it locally.

Emailing a file as a PDF guarantees that it can be read cross-platform on any computer. If you know the recipient will be using Microsoft Word or Apple’s Pages, you can email the file in those formats as well.

Open Pages by double-clicking its icon in the Application Folder.

Open Pages

The template chooser will open by default. From here you can choose to create a new document, or open a recently edited file using the drop-down menu in the lower-left hand corner. Create or open a Pages document.

Choose Document

Once your document is loaded and you’re ready to share it, click on the Share option in the Menu bar.

Share Menu

In the drop-down menu, highlight Send via Mail and then click on PDF. This will create a PDF version of the file and automatically open a new blank email with the attachment.

Share Menu II

Type in the recipient’s email, subject and your message and press Send.

Example Email

This process will work in any iWork application that is ’09 or later. Numbers will give you the option of sending an Excel, Numbers or PDF file and Keynote will give you Powerpoint, Keynote or PDF files.
