iPod Touch 4G Case Review: Speck Candyshell

While the iPod Touch is a pretty durable device with it’s metal back, it’s definitely not scratch proof. To prevent your iPod from getting majorly scratched in your laptop bag, you may want to consider purchasing a protective case. And while there are a ton of cases on the market, a lot of them are less than stellar and may be a waste of your money. To avoid a majorly scratched iPod, I have crafed a review of my favorite case for the iPod Touch 4G, the Speck Candyshell.

Candyshell Front

I’ve had the Speck Candyshell on my iPod for the past few months. And while I haven’t dropped it too much, there are times I’m thankful for it being there. For instance, I accidentally dropped my iPod facedown from roughly four feet off the ground. The Candyshell’s “lay on the table” design (lip around the front of the device) saved the screen from shattering.

The Speck Candyshell is a very unique case for the iPod Touch. This is because it features two different materials, a plastic outer shell and a silicone inner shell. This gives your iPod maximum protection against drops and scratches because of it’s ability to absorb shock. Another nice thing about the Candyshell being made of two materials is that it’s available in a ton of color combinations. From purple and grey to black on white, you’re sure to find your match.

Candyshell Back

Now for the downsides. The Candshell’s plastic outer shell isn’t very grippy. While some may prefer this, I’m not a fan because my iPod tends to slide out of my hand when the case is installed. Also, since the back of the case is made of a glossy plastic material, it tends to scratch a lot. This makes the case look cheap and ugly.

All in all, I think the Speck Candyshell is a great case for the iPod Touch. With tons of protection, unique styling and an Amazing price, I could not recommend this case more. If you’d like to pick this case up for yourself, head over to Amazon where you can find the best price.
