TinkerTool is a great, free application for your Mac. TinkerTool allows you to customize what System Preferences wont. With TinkerTool you can change everything from system fonts to the file format of screen shots that you take with your Mac. One of our favorite customizations that comes with TinkerTool is making hidden applications transparent in the dock.

With TinkerTool you can also add many new features to your Mac, such as adding a quit button to Finder. You can also add restrictions to Finder, this is great if you have small children that like to use your Mac.
TinkerTool not only lets you customize Finder, you also have customization options for iTunes 10, Safari and Quicktime X. Some of these customizations include, not displaying the Ping pull-down menu in iTunes and enabling half star ratings in iTunes.

Another thing that we love about TinkerTool is the reset button. If you ever decide that you do not want TinkerTool anymore, you can simply click on the reset tab and click “Reset to pre-TinkerTool state”. This will reset your settings to how they were before you installed TinkerTool.

If TinkerTool interests you can download it from the developer’s website, http://www.bresink.com/. TinkerTool is available free of charge.
